Information

Psara and Antipsara are located northwest of the island and form a small complex with other neighboring uninhabited islands. Psara, this small dot in the vastness of the Aegean, stood out for the considerable and substantial contribution of the inhabitants in the Revolution of 1821. The massacre of the inhabitants from the Turks three years after the revolution, has touched the hearts of everyone. Gizis’ painting, "The Glory of Psara", and the lyrics of Kalvos will always remind us of the tragedy and the heroic character of the people of Psara.

Today Psara is secluded and quiet, a place untouched by tourism. You will be fascinated by the beautiful beaches with blue waters, the castles and monasteries of the countryside and the traditional villages. The town of Psara is built amphitheatrically around the picturesque harbor following the eastern Aegean architecture, with its white houses and red tiled roofs.

If you are looking for a place of natural beauty and tranquility, with a rich cultural heritage and friendly people, then Psara is an ideal holiday destination for you. Do not forget to try out the excellent local food as well as fresh lobsters and fish, honey and local cheese.

How to get there:

  • Psara is connected to Chios all year long. It is also connected to the port of Lavrio twice a week and Mytilene during the summer season. It is also a stopover for the ships from the islands of Syros, Tinos, Kythnos, Ikaria and Samos.
